Evidence Based Violence Prevention

Evidence Based Violence Prevention

We advocate and support the dissemination and implementation of evidence based school and after-school violence preventions programs, interventions and practices. School and community violence affect millions of children in Kenya.  Student violence is evidenced in the burning of school property, bullying, aggressive behaviors are on the rise. Prevention of school and community violence is high on the agenda of policy makers and policy implementers in Kenya.

Despite a number of measures instituted by policy makers and implementers to address violence in schools and in community settings, there rising cases of these types of violence in the country. Available evidence suggests that evidence based school and community violence prevention programs and interventions are effective.

Whereas research has contributed greatly to our understanding of effective strategies and methods for preventing and managing adolescent and youth led violence in schools and in community settings, there has been limited dissemination and implementation of evidence based school and after-school violence prevention programs, interventions and practices in Kenya.
